About Chapultepec Castle Tickets
I am Diego Arellano Prieto, and this is my independent visitor guide to Chapultépec Castle. To say it as plainly as I can: this site is not INAH, not the Museo Nacional de Historia, and not GetYourGuide. I do not sell tickets, I cannot let you in, and I have no connection to the museum’s administration. What I do is explain the place, compare the ways of visiting it, and tell you when the cheapest option is also the best one.
Who I am
I was born in Colonia Roma and read history at UNAM. Then I spent nine years leading walking tours through the centro and Bosque de Chapultepec before going freelance, which means I have taken visitors up that hill in every season and every mood — school groups, honeymooners, one wedding party that arrived on a Monday and discovered what Mondays mean here. I count pesos, I know which gate queue moves, and I have firm views about people who walk past the Museo del Caracol on the way down.
What this site is for
Chapultépec Castle is the only royal castle in the Americas to have housed actual sovereigns, and almost none of that is legible from the stonework. You need the story: Maximilian and Carlota, the Military College, the cadets of 1847, the presidential years, the murals. So the whole site turns on one trade — entry is cheap at 210 MXN, and ignorance is expensive. Why does the site keep telling me not to book things?
Because for entry alone the door is usually the better buy, and saying otherwise would be a lie I would have to keep telling. Where a booking genuinely earns its price is guiding, which is the argument at do I need a guide.
